Highlights from 2025 September : A.I. and 3D Printing Workshop

Thank you to everyone who joined our A.I and 3D Printing Workshop!

The workshop took place on 18 September 2025 and 26 September 2025. We were pleased to have our Assistant Librarian, Michael Ho, as the instructor. Michael guided students in creating 3D models through the AI technology, demonstrating how this technology can transform a simple idea into a real object.

During the workshop, students learned:

• How to use AI tools to create 2D images from the input prompts.

• How to apply AI technology to convert 2D images into 3D models.

• The basic operation of a 3D printer.

• How to use input prompts to generate 3D models through AI.

Over the course of 1.5 hours, students experienced the creative journey from start to finish. They learned how to use AI tools to transform their ideas into 2D images, and then watched as those images became 3D models with just a few clicks. Students also discovered how to edit and personalize their designs, making each creation truly one-of-a-kind.

According to student feedback, the most useful part of the workshop was using AI tools to convert 2D images into 3D models. This feature made the design process easier and more enjoyable, allowing students to see their ideas come to life.

The highlight of the workshop was presenting each participant with a 3D-printed Moon Lamp. Everyone was excited to receive this special souvenir, which made the experience more memorable.
